Abstract

Early in 2013 we had a project at Artica to develop an interactive museum for Almada called CIAV (Centro de Interpretação de Almada Velha). It involved several different interaction elements:
- large projection table with tablets as interface for content interaction
- display cabinets with proximity behaviors
- gesture controlled video streaming

When the project was open to the public we wrote a tech report highlighting some technical details:
http://artica.cc/projects/interactive/2013/07/15/ciav-tech-report.html

In this talk we want to expand on that report, presenting the project, what problems were presented to us, the different technologies we used to solve them and what lessons were learned in the process.

Keywords: physical computing, Arduino, computer vision, mobile app development, realtime rendering, video mapping, node.js, websockets.

You could use a better abstract, by spicing it with more info and/or examples of the decisions you had to make. I'm interested because I like what I read in the report but some of it could be in the abstract.

+ João da Silva Fernandes, i ended up just dropping keywords at the end, not to make the abstract too extense, but maybe you're right and i should edit to include a little more substantial/specific information.

I hope the talk will be based more on the lessons you learnt, the problems, technologies and the report and not too much as a simple project presentation :)

Interesting area!

+ Astrid Creuzburg, yes, definetely more focused on that side. the project shows itself when discussing the rest, no need to deeply focus on it.

+ Hugo Daniel Gomes, infelizmente julgo que esta talk te vai desiludir, não usamos haskell em nada :( falha grave eu sei. um gajo com os deadlines a apertar toma sempre algumas decisões estúpidas :)

This seems like a really cool way to make more interactive the information displayed to us in various location like museums and such. Looking forward to this.

+ Alberto Manuel da Silva Gomes, my high school english teacher once told me to never ever translate names of things unless they have official translation, which CIAV does not afaik :) but the talk will be in english :)
